Baby Sign Language by Alison Mackonochie

We bought this goodie yesterday at MPH Mid Valley for a steal price of RM19.90. Honestly I thought we would get our neck sliced for books like this. As you can see above, the visuals are very good as well.

Here are some excerpts from the book, and why we should all share this great communication tool ;)

Why Signing?

Helps parents to recognise and satisfy our baby’s needs, which in turn will lead to a happier baby.

It is especially helpful during the notorious toddler years.

Babies who sign are:

Less frustrated

Better able to communicate from an early age

Develop bigger vocabularies more quickly

Display an increased interest in books

Are more confident

Interact better with their carers

May develop a higher IQ

May start speaking earlier

I started the simple Hello, Bye, Milk, Mommy & Daddy and Yes/OK with Natey today. He smiles and giggles every time I do the hand gestures. Such innocent joy ♥

It’ll take some time for us both to learn all the signs. That’s ok since we’re in no real hurry. When he finally does sign back, it will be all worth it! But first Mommy will need to teach Daddy and Popo too, so we can all sign together :)

Won’t you join me?

Get more rest Mommy! Don’t stay on your feet too long, but not on your bum too long either. Moderation ok.

Go get the gym ball and sit on it. Very good for your back. And easier to get up as well ;)

coincidentally, i was checking out clips on gym ball stuff on youtube last week. also planned to join fit42 in bangsar village. RM380 for 12 classes. maybe i’ll join for one intake and then practice using the gym ball on my own at home after.

i dunno what’s the balance with this walking and sitting for a long period of time. i try to take a break when i feel exhausted is what i do lah. as i’m moving into the 21st week, the past week or so, sitting down anymore than 15 minutes hurts my buttocks and back. oh yeah… the baby bum started to show about 2 weeks ago and i’ve past my heaviest weight to date. increment of 7 kgs in 15 weeks. *died*

paul’s kid is on holiday and she’s with her. hats off to parents, especially expecting mothers with young children having to multitask with little rest.
it’s tough, man.

have you lost all your pregnancy weight, cause you do look like it in your recent photos?

It’s great that you are so mobile. I was literally an invalid when I was pregger. Morning sickness was a killer, I didn’t want to go anywhere. Missed Mass for months!

Don’t worry about the weight gain. Breastfeed fulltime and you will loose it naturally. No exercise required. You’ll have no time.

I’m still 2kg away from my prepregnancy weight. I could loose faster if not because of my insatiable hunger. The amount of rice I eat can feed an army! :P

2kg but the body has definitely expanded. Waistline still shockingly 30″ :(

I’ll sign to him whenever its feeding time, nappy change, hello/bye, Mommy Daddy. He giggles at certain gestures and stares at some. He’s learning, just have to be patience and wait for the day he signs back :)

i wonder if the tummy binder works. the indonesian ty-tys amaze me with their postnatal hot bods… the jamu, tummy binder, urut and whatnot.

if you can afford to do it continuously from the day after your delivery until whenever — YUP it works!

i started 2 weeks later and only managed to do 8x. it’s tough to juggle when you’re so tired and have to breastfeed. otherwise, i would have an amazing bod better than prepregnancy.

plus, breastfeeding makes you HUNGRY. and i mean HUNGGRRRYYY!!! keke
