the melodramatic mouse is now mellomom
Baby wearing is one of the oldest traditions used by parents around the world. Most of us would probably be familiar with the image of a mother with a sarong-clad baby around her front or back doing her daily chores. Perhaps you too were amongst those babies? *wink*
Why would I want to Wear my Baby?
Obviously for the closeness, security and comfort that only you can give to your baby. In the early days, you might not even want to put him down!By wearing him close will help to harmonize your infant’s systems, as they mirror our movement, breathing, and heartbeat. These rhythms reflect the womb experience, easing the transition into the outside world.
It would also be an added advantage to have both of our hands free to go about our day yet keeping him close to heart ♥
If we walk into the baby section now or more conveniently to just Google, we can find a vast alternative of baby wearing in the market today. The choices are simply overwhelming! That’s why it is important to narrow down what works for you and your partner before running out and getting the chicest design on the aisle.
3 Quickie Baby Wearing Considerations

L-R: Ring, Wrap, Podaegi, Softpack Front & Pouch
Balance and comfort — Will you be more comfortable to take all the baby’s weight over one shoulder or spreading it equally over both? If you have hip or back problem, a two shoulder design would be a wiser choice

Are you sharing? — I’m sure both parents would want their fair share on wearing their baby. So go for adjustable like unpadded ring slings, wrap carriers, podaegi or softpacks front carrier. If you want an individual style and have the budget, you can go for separated fitted pouch slings for each parent.
How long will you be carrying your baby? — Small babies are easy to carry all day. Toddlers pose more of a challenge. So a two shoulder carrier would be most ideal if you are planning to stretch your Ringgits and the carrier’s lifespan.
I hope that has helped you to decide on how you plan on wearing your baby. After deciding on the style, you can now feast your eyes on the many beautiful fabric and carrier designs.
Don’t say I didn’t warn your wallet beforehand

Hi,
I have a littlepod SSC. This is something that I cannot live without. It is so light and compact. Usually when I don’t use it, I will usually put inside my baby bag. It is made from cotton so very suitable for Malaysian climate. My baby does not sweat when she is inside.
My stroller is the white elephant sitting at home. I hardly use it. I think only twice since birth until she is one year plus. I use this SSC most of the time. When she was much younger, I use a baby pouch.
