the melodramatic mouse is now mellomom
We first started with Velcro
4 Plain Colours & 1 Printed Safari White

Then added Buttons to the fun
Velcro vs Snap Buttons

After much deliberations
Velcro were up for sale

So out goes Velcro
And in comes Snap Buttons!

I bought the 4 new PCD — Twinkle Red, Blue & Lime — last Friday to replace the 4 preloved that were sold off on Thursday. So now we’re back to 8 *phew* It was pretty stressful to only have 4 to use, after packing up the velcro aside to sell.
Autumnz doesn’t have much choice for PUL material with snap buttons. I didn’t want to get Minky again as they are too bulky and warm. I like Daisy but that’s too girly. So instead I had to settle with the same design. Out of the 3 colours above, Natey looks best in Blue
Why did I buy Autumnz again? They are within budget, and doesn’t need to break piggy for it. Else it would definitely be a big pinch to sell off the velcro after only using for 3 weeks and replacing them with new ones. There’s still a lost though, but better than chucking them aside *sigh*
Anyway, I am very happy with the Twinkle snap buttons. So that’s all that really matters
It’s raining Autumn!

I only started CDing Natey at 4months *paiseh* I was so exhausted that I was relying solely on disposables. So the diaper cover I bought was already too small hehe. And the 40 nappies all become blankets now
Ooo another SAHM! We should have a SAHM blogger support group keke
You must be really anxious by now. When when when? When it finally happens, you have no time to think and pop out she comes!
We’ll have to meet up someday when your little girl is bigger ok. Natey needs some girlfriends

Hi mellomouse,
I’m interested in buying Autumnz CD , but I’m just wondering will the PUL material warm? may i ask some ques cos i have no idea how does this CD works? i m breastfeeding my son, he is 2 months old now, he poo alot~ if he wears CD, once he poo, then i have to change the whole CD? what if he wee? just change the inserts or change the whole CD? Thanks.
I’m using traditional nappy now, it took lots of washing works..

Hi Candy,
PUL material is a little warm and you can see your baby’s bum sweat. But it is fine if you change it often and not wait till the insert is super wet.
With CDing, you just change the insert when it is wet. If your baby poo, then you will need to change the cover and insert. Remember to use nappy liner each time.
I wash the nappy and baby clothes every day in the washing machine. I don’t collect as some people do.
What I do is rinse the soiled inserts with soapy water and then clean water. Keep it aside for washing with everything else later at night. I hang all the clothes and nappy in my living room (cause stay in condo) then everything will be dried by morning
I suggest you buy a few first to try. Then you decide whether you like it or not. Definitely easier compared to traditional nappy.
Oh, you must use non enzyme/softener detergent for CDs. Else the insert will be less absorbent. I find Pureen’s HAD is the best!

Hi,
When you using the Autumz, it is pocket diaper right? So the inserts you put inside the cover or outside? Then where you put the nappy liner? Outside the cover? Did you apply the angel baby balm when using CD? From what I know, we shouldn’t apply any nappy rash correct? Sorry for asking so many questions ;P

Hi Carmen,
Hope this will help:
1) Yes, Autumnz is pocket diaper. Just put the inserts into the slot and put the nappy liner over the cover.
2) The nappy liner helps keep baby’s bum dry from his pee. And reduce the direct contact of his poo onto the cover’s fleece. It’ll be hard to wash it out if the poo stick onto the fleece. Wash immediately once he did his business ok. I like Pureen’s Super Nappy Liner (Pink Box) as they are more durable. You can use it a few times before throwing away. I know a lot of people wash and reuse, but I don’t as I don’t want the paper’s fiber gets into Natey’s private.
3) Use any nappy rash balm but must use nappy liner over CD. The reason because the balm is oily and might clog the fleece if it sticks onto it.
4) Why shouldn’t we apply nappy rash cream? Buy organic. Don’t use powder/talc as it may clog your baby’s sensitive skin pores.
Here’s how I keep my CD clean after soiling:
Pee — Remove inserts and rinse with water, put aside in a dry pail and wash at night with the rest of the soiled inserts. You can air dry the CD and use again until they are soiled with poo for the rest of the day.
Poo — Remove inserts and rinse with soapy water. I use Pureen HAD, very very good. Then rinse CD over running water to remove any poo sticking on it with a toothbrush. After that rinse with the soapy HAD water. Keep both inserts and CD aside for wash with the rest of the soiled inserts.
I know a lot of people collect their inserts and CD to wash in 2-3 days later. But I prefer to wash them at the end of everyday. More hygienic and I only have 8 CD covers to use. So better wash every night
