Have you ever had an itchy insect bite or maybe itchy skin allergy that drove you crazy? Well ladies (the unfortunate us), you haven’t experienced the worst until you have this!

  • PUPPP is the acronym for Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy, also known as Polymorphic Eruption of Pregnancy.
  • They are extremely unbearable itchy, red bumps and large patches of a hive-like rash that spread over the thighs, buttocks, breasts and arms.
  • It normally occurs in the 3rd trimester and may last for up to three months after delivery — I’m only in my 2nd trimester! :(
  • Studies have shown that 70% of women with PUPPP give birth to boys.
  • Fortunately, this doesn’t harm the baby…

It first started out on my belly, but thankfully they went away after a week or two. Then it reappeared last week on my right breast. And now, it has invaded both. Leaving me itching for my dear life *sobs a bucket*

I’ve yet to inform Dr Tan about this and am applying Calamine Cream on my own effort. It soothes the crazy itching but still itches on and off. You cannot begin to imagine the torture. I’ve had skin rashes before, but this beats it a 100x more!

I wanted to attach a picture of the condition here, but it seriously looks too scary. Try run a Google image search and see for it yourself — not for the fainthearted *close both eyes*

Can I say that I almost itch myself to death yesterday? It was so bad that the itchiness woke me up from slumber *sobs* Hubby was sweet to DIY 2 ice packs for me at 2.30am to ease the burning ♥

I’ve given a call to Dr Tan’s clinic earlier and managed to speak to the nurse. It seems that the suspected culprit of my rash could be the Cocoa Butter Stretch Mark Lotion that I’ve been using :(

Dr Tan has prescribed me Econazole Cream. Hopefully it helps! *fingers crossed*

Thankfully the Econazole Cream has worked. I am no longer itching for my dear life. What’s left now is the scars fading off from my breasts and belly *phew*

Somehow I know these pesky rash will come back later in the pregnancy, and as my baby bump stretches to accommodate LBJ. Hopefully I will be able to handle them with experience then.

Looks like my Stretch Mark Lotion will have to sit aside and collect dusk for now. I dare not use them anymore, for fear the outbreak will happen once again too soon.

Hey… just to check with you… are you applying any creams to avoid stretch marks? How early I should start with those? I am very lazy person… wash face with water/soap or shampoo …. no 3 stop thingy.

I started applying Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Stretch Mark Lotion last month. 3 weeks back I noticed these tiny red bumps on my breast and now it has invaded both entirely. Itches like crazy with no mercy!! Dr Tan said if I continue, it will spread to wherever I am applying the lotion. So I stopped this morning.

You can start the creams anytime now. I just hope you don’t get the rash like I did. Once you notice any funny red marks, stop immediately. Our skin are hyper sensitive during pregnancy, hence if it gets rashes, it’s too late to cry. Trust me, the itch has no mercy. I am still itching like mad now :(

Agree… about the hyper sensitivity…. I am so high strung now… with my 24 hours nausea it is no fun… and am so wonky… :(

If you want to avoid these crazy rash, I reckon to skip the cream. But your skin could be different from mine. These pesky red bumps are now growing on my belly too :( You won’t believe this but I walk around with an ice pack on my breast at home to sooth the itching and burning. There are now big patches of burn-liked scars on both *sobs*

Rashes… every pregnant women nightmare! But yours sound manageable. Thankfully! Mine was the real PUPPP deal. It was islands and islands of evil itchiness. I couldn’t even see my normal skin :(

Hey, sorry to hear that you had to go through that….sounds really irritating! Mine is probably a minor case; they’re tiny red bumps like pimples and itch sometimes. I hope it’s ok for you now and that it won’t return.

Oh it was more than irritating. I honestly cried from the itch! It was really that bad :(

Thankfully it is yesterday’s news now. And pray it won’t return, but some Mothers get it after delivery… :s
