Pregnancy Updates 14: Milestones 1, Week 4 – 20.

I know sooner or later, the experiences I’ve gathered today would become a misty memory fog. This is the reason why I’m typing all these down today so I can remember tomorrow — and also to share with whomever that stumbles on my blog for the same experience.

This week the precious life growing within me turns 5 months and 1 week. God had kept LBJ safe throughout the 1st trimester and I am very thankful. May He continues to watch over this precious gift until delivery and long after too ♥

The days are passing easier and faster now since I am able to have better sleep at night. Previously I wake at every 1 hour and it was exhausting, especially with the crazy nausea spells. Today I can sleep at least 3 hour in a stretch through the night before nature starts calling. And in the daytime, I catch an hour nap after each meal in between every 3 hours.

I need to have at least 5 light meals a day and throughout the night, I drink low fat milk (about 2 cups) to keep the gastric at bay. Now that my appetite is better, eating is much more pleasurable — except for dinner time because of the vomit spells — compared to the earlier days. I lost weight at the beginning but now have gained a healthy 5kg.

Here’s the 1st edition of my pregnancy milestone from the day I started suspecting up till yesterday.

Week 4

Excited to experience the 1st sign of Morning Sickness — at this point, I didn’t mind it at all *bleh*

Week 5

Bought our 1st Home Pregnancy Kit on the night of 3/7/09

Did the test at 5.55am on 4/7/09 — instructions said use 1st pee of the day

Less than 5 seconds later, I am so Pregnant! *yay*

Informed parents but they were not convinced, so we went for an ultrasound that night and confirmed LBJ is indeed conceived and 5mm in size ♥

Read this post here.

Week 6

Morning Sickness takes on full force — at this point, I am no longer thrilled *bleh* Read this post here.

Week 7

The beginning of awful gastric, heartburn episodes, lost of appetite and sleepless nights *sobs* Read this post here.

1st visit to the ObGyn (Dr Jean Woo from Gleneagles) on 17/7/09 — got our 1st print of LBJ at 7 weeks 2 days and measuring 2.86cm! Dr Woo was extremely brief and quick. I didn’t like that her room only had 1 chair for the mother but none for the husband. Read this post here.

Can no longer fit into my jeans because of the bloated stomach.

Week 10

House arrest myself for the next 2 months — my nausea was so bad, I didn’t want to go anywhere. Every smell triggered vomit spells and it’s the most awful, torturous feeling in the world *sobs* Read this post here.

Week 11

2nd visit to Dr Jean Woo on 17/8/09 — both appointments with her was such a rush that we decided to change doctor. From the ultrasound, Dr Woo said LBJ is possibly a girl but I still suspected otherwise *winks* And because she rushed us so much, she forgot to give us our ultrasound result so we don’t have LBJ in Wk11 :(

Begin researching on other ObGyn in Gleneagles on local forums — found Dr Tan Lay Seng and Dr Jimmy Tang. Read this post here and here.

Week 13

1st visit to Dr Jimmy Tang on 1/9/09 — he was very thorough and didn’t rush us. I was happy that his room had 2 chairs! *LOL*

1st visit to Dr Tan Lay Seng on 4/9/09 — we waited for Dr Tan for 2 hours because he had 2 deliveries. He was also very thorough and didn’t rush us even though the queue was already very long by then. I was even happier when he confidently announced his suspicion that LBJ is a boy. But that was not the reason why I chose him over Dr Tang *winks* Read this post here and here.

Appetite slowly improving! *thank God*

Vomiting spells after dinner begins *humph* Read this post here.

Week 16

Finally left the house! To bring Scubby for a groom at House of Groomers :) Read this post here.

Week 17

Felt LBJ move for the 1st time on 27/9/09 and hubby confirmed it! Read this post here.

Week 18

While Scubby was sleeping on my lap with his head on my belly on 4/10/09, LBJ gave him 2 kicks and woke him in surprise! It was such a sweet sweet experience ♥

Began to develop PUPPP — the worst ever itch that cannot be scratched! Read this post here.

2nd visit to Dr Tan Lay Seng on 9/10/09 — he confirms that LBJ is a boy indeed! And we have the ultrasound prints to prove it *double hearts* Read this post here.

Can no longer fit into any of my clothes. Read this post here.

Week 20

Biggest achievement last weekend — went to Sungei Wang and Petaling Street despite the crowd or smell! That would have been an impossible 2 months ago with the crazy nausea spells :)

I am very happy that my morning sickness is improving, although certain smells — especially soaps and detergents — still trigger vomit spells. I am not as lethargic as before but I still need my afternoon naps — at least 2 rounds of 1 hour each. And I have better appetite! I’ve yet to develop any weird crazy cravings though.

Besides the insanely itchy but thou-shall-not-or-regret scratch it pregnancy rash, I hope I’m now slowly turning the pages into the Pregnancy Bliss chapter *fingers crossed*

I hope I didn’t scare you off the thoughts of getting a Mini Me for yourself. It’s not entirely a bed of roses, but I guess like what every mother would say — At the end, all the agonies are worth it when you hold your bundle of joy in your arms 9 months later! :)

Hang in there Mommy! I am hanging here myself. Some days will be better, and some will literally make you regret. At the early days I was so sick with nausea, I totally understand how chemotherapy patients felt like. I actually cried to the husband a few good times because both nausea and gastric was almost killing me *cringe* But not once did I blame LBJ, just my awful weak body and crazy hormones :)

Don’t be too grumpy and be positive that you can make it through this ugly phase faster than me! ;)

I am in week 11 now…. i can smell poo in less than 10 seconds when either one of the kids poo in the toilet…. I cant eat…. or after eating it will come out (exorcist style) within the next 6 hours (obviously of indigestion)….

I am cranky, wonky and moody most of the time…. everytime i open my mouth to talk, yawn, cough of sneeze, it ends with gag with threat to vomit…. mo stomach feels like spin cycle or electric dryer… i dont know it’s because of hunger, heartburns, indigestion, air, nausea or whatever it is cause it feels the same all the time….

I really hope that all these will go off soon… my hubby said my looks now could kill…. I am just so wonky!

Whoa! Your MS sounds even nastier than mine *hugs* If my obgyn hears this, he will be so pleased. The nastier, the healthier the pregnancy! That was my consolation.

Thankfully I did not have any mood swings. Maybe because I am home alone and no one is around to annoy me hehe. No chance of getting more time off from work? I don’t think I could be as strong as you are to be at work in your condition :(
