the melodramatic mouse attempts to blog
For the past 2 weeks, falling asleep and staying asleep during the night is becoming more and more difficult. No matter how tired I make myself — even by sleeping after midnight — it would still take around 2 hours rolling from right to left before I could comfortably fall asleep *yawns*
When that actually happens, it’s time to answer nature’s call. And then the cycle repeats itself. Before you know it, I hear the morning prayers announcing Subuh *panda eyes*
I’m in my 23 weeks now. LBJ is getting bigger, and so am I — that’s 8kg extra! — but not too big yet or too heavy that makes shifting sides difficult. It’s the backache from sleeping on my sides that’s keeping me awake because I’m most comfortable sleeping on my back.
What are the best sleep positions?
Sleeping on your side: Even better is to sleep on your left side.Sleeping on your left side will increase the amount of blood and nutrients that reach the placenta and your baby.
What positions should I avoid?
Sleeping on your back: This can cause problems with backaches, breathing, digestive system, hemorrhoids, low blood pressure and decrease in circulation to your heart and your baby. This is a result of your abdomen resting on your intestines and major blood vessels (the aorta and vena cava).
I’ve stopped sleeping on my back since knowing the harm it could cause LBJ — hence the yawning marathon during the day. Hopefully I get used to sleeping on my left as my baby bump grows bigger.
As for now (4.56pm), I’m going back to bed. Wake me up when it is time for dinner *waves*

Try propping a couple of soft pillows (or one long pillow) behind you so they support your shoulders down to your bottom when you sleep on your side. That way it’ll still prop you sideways if you tend to roll onto your back. Hubby might think there’s too many pillows on the bed but then what the heck, you need to be comfy!

Hi Mazz,
I’m using my bolster for support at the front. Doing good so far. I tried putting a pillow behind, which makes me feel better. Then after 5 minutes I’ll need to switch sides again so I’ll need to move the pillow to the other side pulak. At the end, I malas nak letak because of all the switching around
