scubby armored in a cone.

For the first time in five long months, Scubby was away from home for a day. It wasn’t just any simple away-from-home expedition that he was on, but he was away for a major alteration of his life. And that Saturday, I was a worrisome mother of my little bundle of fur.

7mths old Scubby

For a few good months, I have done plenty of research online and even consulted some “second opinions”. The pros were ultimately more positive than the cons and so the decision has been set even before we brought Scubby home from Penang.

Last Saturday on 18 April 2009 — between the time of 12pm and 4pm — Scubby underwent the first surgery of his little canine life. He was neutered, and the operation was done well. Big thanks to Dr Lim Chee Kin at Gasing Veterinary Hospital, PJ.

Scubby is now recovering from the surgery, and in another 8 days we can remove his sutures. So that means, poor little Scubby would be almost fermented by then *hehe*

If that video looked familiar, it is because you saw this first.

Hello,

My name is yenni loo and a hopeful to be Westie owner.

Please accept my apology if this come across as being abrupt. I found your site after doing some research prior to us acquiring a Westie. We were intending to purchase a westie fr Irene Kang of Penang (the latest litter of Ozzy & Christine).

The extensive research & careful deliberation was because my 7 yr old son is asthmatic and even tho Irene told us that the Westie doesn’t shed much, I was still concerned.

We are considering driving to Penang this weeked to visit her pups (we live in Shah Alam). She is asking for RM2.9k for a male pup, non nego.

Anyway, my search brought me to the forum at House of Westie and I found out that you (benjac?) have bougyht Scubby fr Irene & discovered that he has inherited hips dsyplasia.

Scubby is absolutely lovely and it is so sad to learn about his condition. I hope your love for him can help alleviate his pain.

I read about your comment on Irene’s dishonesty. I have decided to approach here you rather than through the forum as it may not be appropriate and you may not wish to share the information.

If it is otherwise ok with you, I hope you can help share some information about raising scubby, the temperament and health a westie fr Irene and your dealings with her etc.

thank you for your time and I hope all goes well for Scubby & the family.

best regards,

yenni

Dear benjac,

Like you, we have done quite some reading about the breed and looking for a decent sample for a long-term bond. The research concluded with IK’s litters having the obvious advantage in looks and bloodline. Having read your multiple posts in homeApet and lowyat, I am convinced that you have more knowledge than most people in Malaysia, including the penang breeder.

Scubby is so so so cute and his coat is white as snow. No better example of coat colour have we witnessed, except maybe on Pinky. We have been very disturbed by the hip issues and wonder if all the offsprings have the same issues. However, there is no other reference to IK’s puppies except yours. Others do no contribute to the web, and therefore no information is available. Like you case, she is selling one leftover of the 3 available males. No chance to talk during conversations as she dominates and listens not. We are also living in ampang and have the same worries, ie:

1. discreet condo living
2. climate/temperature issues
3. no one at home during working hours

Hope to hear from you soon.
