My Verdict:

We bought this cool thingamajig last November during the year end Baby, Children & Parent Expo at Mid Valley. Although it says for age 2-4yo on the box, we were quite smitten by it and the Husband agreed that it would be a good investment.

The Tag can be personalised with your child’s name, have more than 150 responses and stores 5 books at a time. There are also online printable activities to expand the fun and learning

At 10 months old then, Natey responded with delight whenever I turn on the Tag and it says his name: “How’s my friend, Nathaniel?” or “Have a great day, Nathaniel” when off.

After only 2 weeks of playing, Natey already memorised the songs and bobs his head whenever I hum the tunes. Absolute cuteness!

We bought 2 titles (Cars and The Backyardigans) along with the Tag and added another (ABC) during Christmas, so in total we have 4 titles now. I’m definitely planning to expand this library.

This is most certainly a good buy. Even at 2 years ahead of time

Little Bean Sterilizer & Baby Warmer

My Verdict:

If you remember back in Oct 2009, when I prepared my 1st Nursery Checklist, I actually slashed this off after reading the thread in MsiaBrides. Most of the Mommies agreed that a sterilizer kit is a waste of money. Well, I beg to differ.

My Dad bought this after the 3rd week into my confinement. After seeing the headless chicken (us) running about — especially when Natey cries his little lungs out — he went out and got this for us.

What we have is the Little Bean’s Combo Pack. It comes with a sterilizer and a baby warmer. Both are certainly indispensable at the early days of 1st time Mother/Parenthood! Manual sterilizing of boiling, pouring and soaking can be a bit tedious — Every 2 hours ya. Or boiling too hot a water to over warm your EBM.

The sterilizer can keep all your bottles and whatnot sterilized for 3hours. It is pretty spacious inside, so you can plop all your other baby utensils inside when you begin solid feeding. My Lactaline breastpump goes right in everytime too!

The baby warmer is very handy as well. It has 3 markers of: 40˚ (EBM/Formula warm up), 70˚ (solid food warm up) and 100˚. Newborn babies take their time when feeding, so to keep the feed from getting cold — especially if you’re bottle feeding in an aircon room — just put it right back into the warmer

If a friend is offering you a gift, this would definitely be a good one to ask for. Else, it’s a good investment too from your own wallet *winks*

My Verdict:

We bought our first 2 bottles of HAD last Nov — I was 30wks then — at Pureen’s Warehouse Sale. It was selling at RM10 each, a definite super saver! But unfortunately today, at the same sale again, inflation has finally taken its course.

What I like about HAD is how it could remove poopoo stains like it was never there. Just like how they do it on TV: 1) Rub some HAD on the spot, 2) Let it sit a while, 3) Rinse and 4) Poof! Gone and stain free.

HAD is perfect for cleaning Cloth Diaper shells and inserts as it contains no enzyme and softener that would reduce the CD’s absorbency. After 4 months of daily soiling, Natey’s Autumnz CD remains “almost” stain free *yay*

To date we have already used 8 bottles. Besides using this for Natey’s laundry every night, I also use it for my nursing bras and breastpads.

Why I only gave it a 4 star? HAD would be perfect if it was completely toxin free. I wouldn’t mind a little fragrance in it too, because sometimes you do need a little perfume to mask the nasty baby mess

If you are looking for a almost baby friendly and earth friendly detergent, for RM13 this would be as good as it gets

My Verdict:

One word: Satisfied!

I am indeed very happy with this wonderful toy. Thank you to my Dad once again for getting it for us! ♥

To date I’ve made: 1) Puree — Avocado and Apple, 2) Steam & Puree — Pumpkin, Sweet Potatoes, Carrots and Sweet Potatoes with Carrots 3) Smoothies — Avocado and Orange (that’s for us! *hehe*) and 4) Blend Bananas as cake toppings

It is really easy to use just as the video demonstrated. Once you’ve prepared all your ingredients, just throw everything in, steam, flip, blend and serve *wahh*

For once it is not just a marketing gimmick, but one that really live up to its promises

Definitely no regrets!

From Grandpa to Mommy for Baby
♥ Natey says thank you, GungGung! ♥

Before I begin this post — I am so tempted to gloat but shan’t — I am humbled by the fact that I am so blessed *points above*

I’ve been coveting over this 3-step-wonder since I found out about it while researching on starting solids earlier this month. Unfortunately everywhere is out of stock and was also a bit too pricey for our budget *sulks*

So you can imagine my excitement when I found out that Babyland SS2 still had a few and my Dad was generous to offer it as a gift — he already gave us Little Bean Sterilizer – for his beloved 1st Grandson. Thank you, Pa! *hugs*

I already had it all planned out to get it the next day after Natey’s playdate in the evening. Calling to check beforehand was just me being kiasu. If I didn’t, then this post wouldn’t exist because they only had one left *thanks heaven!*

At 10am Saturday morning — I can’t wait! — we went to bring “my” cool toy home. And here it is now sitting on my dining table, assembled and shiny new *waahh*

I’ve been so busy with Natey that I’ve not tried it out yet. Hopefully somewhere this week I’ll put on my Ratatouille outfit and take it for a spin. Once done, I’ll post a Part 3. The husband is already scheming on smoothies making

What I like about this compact little gadget is the possible time saved. Although steaming is an easy task, it could eat up about 30-45mins preparation time depending on ingredients — 1) put water in pot, 2) put ingredients in elevated dish, 3) wait for boil, 4) wait to cook, 5) wait to cool, 6) remove and throw into blender *yawns*

Ask any Mommies and they’ll tell you that they will gladly exchange an arm and foot for those golden minutes. Or anything that could help around the house. So it is easy to fall prey to this magic convenience

After much deliberations, we finally bought Natey’s car seat last Saturday at Jusco. We — I meant Me — have been going back and forth for a few weeks between Combi Coccoro (2nd choice), Sweet Cherry Bianca (3rd choice) and Halford Zeus (4th choice).

If you remember back in December last year, our original 1st choice daydream car seat was Concord Ultimax. But at the end, our wallet decided on Bianca. Hopefully our Made in Malaysia car seat would not disappoint us.

I have been Natey’s car seat since the 1st day — when he was 5 days old, today 113! — he rode home from the hospital. Whether being cuddled in my arms, bundled in the baby sling or carried with the BabyBjörn, Natey always had direct contact with his Mommy’s warmth. So it shouldn’t be a surprise when he made a big fuss sitting on his own.

It started out fine. Daddy buckled him in forward facing, we drove to pack dinner nearby, then the whiny sound began. In an instant, the I-don’t-like-it cry exploded! To no avail, he was back on my lap all the way home.

The car seat is now in Natey’s nursery so I can give him daily car seat training. And I think it is great! Because I can let him sit upright without worry. These days he just refuses to lie down and wants to be upright most of the time. When will he learn to flip?

Indoor Cruising
Natey says: Mommy, can we keep this here?

Mommy says: Baby, that’s my thought exactly!

Daddy dearest, can we keep the car seat at home during the weekdays? It shouldn’t be too much hassle to bring it up and down 13 floors right? *bat eyelashes*

Only until Bumbo arrives, I promise!

Car seat training was a success. After a week of sitting on Bianca in his nursery, Natey can be buckled in without problem for 2 weekends outing.

A note to all: If you are planning to go, make sure you are there when it opens. Though it says 10.00am, the actual time is 8.30am!

At least that was what happened last year. And trust me, you want to be early rather than on time. The kiasu crowd will canned you into real Sardines *faints*

I’m wondering whether it would be wise to go this year. I’ve seen Mommies with their babies in tow, but I definitely won’t do that. Perhaps Natey can wait in the car with Daddy… *hmm*

Yup, we went indeed and once again we got Sardined!

We reached at 9am. The gate was shut with the 1st batch of people already inside and a large crowd waiting outside. I wonder what time those arrived *hmm*

By 9.20am the gate opened and I nearly got stampeded — Don’t joke with kiasu Malaysians ok

Everything is organised exactly like last year and same goes for the prices. So if you’ve been there once, you’ll know where everything are the next time around

Finally after going to 8 Baby Shops at 4 Shopping Malls — Mothercare at Bangsar Shopping Center; Isetan, Parkson, Toycity, Mothercare & ModernMum at KLCC; Bebehaus at Bangsar Village One and Hartamas Shopping Complex — we finally got LBJ’s Baby Stroller on Christmas Day! *phew*

What I like about Combi’s Well Carry

Aesthetic – I like all of Combi’s slick stroller designs, so it was easy deciding on the Japanese brand

170° Full Reclining Seat — A stroller with an adjustable seat that fully reclines is a must for infants that cannot support their heads yet. Lying as flat as possible is the best position!

Light Weight Design — Weighing only at 5.5kg, it might be light but it is very sturdy. Easy for a “small” person like me to handle alone

Soft Comfy Cushion – The seats are fitted with extra soft cushion that feels and looks comfortable for baby.

Easy Folding & Opening Mechanism — Can be easily opened and closed with just One-Hand, while holding baby with the other hand. Just press 2 easy buttons on the handle and Voila!

Stroller Safety — Initially we wanted to get Combi’s Calpico (RM599) because I liked the idea of a reversible handle. But because it only has a 3-Point Harness, we decided against it and went back to Well Carry that has five.

So there you have it! We’ve bought our very 1st Baby Stroller and are very happy with it. Now all that’s left is for LBJ to give it a real test run for a final review — pending May 2010 for his Infant Baptism.

Now that we have Combi, the Concord Ultimax is not forgotten of course. But just postponed, till next year
